Introducing Big Sky BacMam

The R&D team at Montana Molecular has been hard at work improving our BacMam vector! We’re excited to release Big Sky BacMam – a vector which, in our hands, yields greatly improved transduction efficiency in HEK and CHO cells

In HEK293T cells we see 3-4x fluorescence at 24 hours when using Big Sky BacMam and matching protocol, viral genes, and production date.

Improvements in CHO cells are more marked – a 9x improvement at 48 hours. Importantly, this was achieved without the spinoculation step we had previously recommended for this tricky cell type.

We are now hoping to see if the improved transduction efficiency seen with our in-house cell lines will translate to similar improvements in primary cultures, IPSCs, and other difficult to transduce cell lines. We are looking for researchers willing to try Big Sky BacMam in their cells and provide feedback.
